TOMMY IN THE SCHOOLS YOUTH PROGRAMS

2, 3, 4 or 5 day School Residencies
1 Hour Per class
Levels:   Beginner, Experienced Beginner
Final day of each workshop will include a 45 minute Battle so that students can apply
what they have learned in a real Battle emceed and hosted by Tommy!
Minimum Number of Students: 16
Maximum Number of Students: 40

1.5 hour Master Class & Performance in the Schools
with Tommy and a teaching assistant from Tommy’s Crew followed by Short Performance by Tommy and 2 Crew Members
2 hours

Presentation and Performance by Tommy the Clown and Crew (Assembly)
Tommy speaks with the students about his past, the importance of staying in school, getting good grades and keeping up attendance.  Tommy answers questions from students and invites them to dance with him and the crew at the end of the presentation

TOMMY PUBLIC WORKSHOPS
MASTER CLASS: “BRING IT TO THE STREETS”

This is your chance to experience the pure essence of Clowning and Krumping with the creator of the form, Tommy the Clown, and members of his crew. A course that transcends any dance course ever created, students will take away something much more important, meaningful and exciting than just steps, moves or choreography…

In this three-day course like no other, students will not only learn movements, steps, technique and form from Tommy and his crew, but also get the rare opportunity to re-create a dance battle in the classroom, building confidence, teamwork skills and performance practice. 

Krumping directly to the streets! The dancers will truly experience what it feels like to be a Hip Hop Clown, dancing in the streets of various neighborhoods in the Los Angeles area.  Where will the class go? No one knows until Tommy’s truck stops and the party begins!

Students also have the opportunity to partake in future workshops, working toward Certification by Tommy as a “Hip Hop Clown.”  The Certified Hip Hop Clowns participate in parties, performances and the representation of Tommy the Clown across the world.  This opportunity gives students personal and professional goals. On a personal level, the dancers are required to stay in school, maintain a high level of attendance, and good grades.  On a professional level, the Hip Hop Clowns become part of Tommy’s crew, where they have the opportunity to earn income for their work and follow the path of one of the dance world’s most innovative and inspiring performers, Tommy the Clown.
